Justin Ray: Students Excited About Double Decker

With the year winding to a close, Students look to Double Decker weekend as the last big “Hoor-ah” before finals. Double Decker kicks off Friday April 29 with Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears playing at 6 p.m and Old Crow Medicine Show headlining at 9 p.m.
With most of the spring parties in the book, many Ole Miss students see Double Decker as the last big party of the semester. The weather is supposed to be clear which will likely attract more students before they lock themselves to study for finals in the upcoming weeks. When asked what they were most excited about at Double Decker, Junior art major Katherine Jacobson said “I am very interested to see the art of many students at the university will have displayed as well as art from artists not from the area, but overall it should be a really fun weekend.” Art is always a major part of the festivities but many people particularly come to hear the music that the festival provides. There will be a north and south stage with bands starting to play as early as 11:00 am Saturday on both stages and music continuing until 8 that evening. This has some students thinking about starting the partying early on Saturday.
“The music starting early definitely gives me more motivation to start drinking early, and it’s cool because I’ll be able to do both,” Sophomore business major William Boyce said.
